Our 2016 season is officially here, but wind and chilly temps couldn’t stop our 560 participants from reaching the finish line in Waunakee!

We’re so grateful for the support of our amazing sponsors, especially our presenting and gold level sponsors, the Waunakee Village Center, Waunakee Community School District, TDS, UnityPoint Health – Meriter , The Blue Tree Network, and the Waunakee Rotary, for making this year’s event possible!

Congratulations to our Fittest School…ELM LAWN ELEMENTARY in Middleton with 56 athletes!

Rounding out our top five fittest schools for this year’s event are:

2. West Middleton 53
3. Lincoln 43
4. Northside Middleton 39
5. Mendota 39

Over half of the participants in this event were part of our Exercise to Achievement program this spring.  This program helps kids train for a triathlon while learning healthy habits they can apply inside and outside the classroom, with an emphasis on providing access to athletic opportunities in underserved communities.  It’s incredibly important for all children to have access to healthy opportunities and the life skills that accompany athletics, which is a big piece of our mission here at Tri 4 Schools.

We’re also thankful for all the volunteers, as well as Waunakee EMS, Police, and Public Works, for making this event safe and smooth for all our children.  We had record signups for volunteers for this year’s event, which makes the race better for everyone.

Please share your ideas with how we can continue to improve the event in the comments or by emailing us (contact@tri4schools.org). We also look forward to seeing all our triathletes at the Sun Prairie and Middleton triathlon presented by Harbor Athletic Club this summer!
