Hi blogosphere,
Last weekend I had the privilege of once again seeing how triathlon can transform lives. When I first met my Aunt-in-law, Marcy, we had talked about how she did triathlons at one point in her life, and would like to do one again someday. She had recurring injury and pain issues in her hips and knees that were holding her back. That was 2007.
In February of 2012, she informed me that after having her hips resurfaced, she was going to make the commitment to lose weight and train to complete a triathlon. In an effort to support her in her goals, a number of my in-laws decided to do it with her.
Six months and over 80 pounds later, Marcy completed the Silver Lake Sprint Triathlon in Portage! I don’t think I stopped smiling all day long. What is even more impressive is that no one else who committed to doing the tri backed out either.

I am so proud of her and all she has done over the past six months. It was awesome to see her smiling throughout the race. When she finished, the first thing she said was, I can’t wait to do this again next year!
That’s the spirit. 🙂
