We’re just three short weeks away from the first Tri 4 Schools event of 2015, the Waunakee triathlon. If this is your child’s first experience with us, we know it can be overwhelming. Let us help by offering some guidance and resources that can help make your child’s day a great one!
If you’re looking for an overview…
Be sure to view our YouTube video (courtesy of our friends at Tweedee Productions, Fleet Feet Sports, and Elements Massage)! This allows you a sneak peek at what a triathlon looks like from start to finish, with an emphasis on our younger athletes. Remember, if your child is six or under, you can help them in the transition area (the place where your child will prepare between the three portions of the race).
If you have questions…
We highly recommend checking out our FAQ page. There are answers to many of the questions we hear from parents at our pre-race packet pick-up on Friday evening. We also send out three pre-race emails – the first is sent one month ahead of time, the second two weeks ahead of time, and the final on the Monday of race week. These emails are full of information that can answer questions about the event and triathlon in general.
On Friday, May 1st, we will host two course talks at Waunakee Middle School at 5 and 5:45pm (during our early packet pick-up). We highly recommend coming to these if you are newer to the sport, as we will also host a transition area demo with one of our young athletes!
If you’re curious about training…
Visit our Training Resources page to get sample training plans for beginners and more advanced athletes. Remember, the key is fun and safety, so as long as your child can safely navigate the distance they will be racing, they should be in great shape for this event.
