Hello again friends,
We’ve now jumped headfirst into April…and I’m really liking the change. My dog and I have been running outdoors together since the end of January, but those runs were pretty unbearable with the wind chills, snow, and bitterly cold temps. This week we’ve enjoyed two great afternoon runs together (although I’m still struggling to keep up with him!).
I think the change in weather has affected Tri 4 Schools positively as well. We got another sponsor yesterday at the silver level – Happy Dogz Daycare! Happy Dogz is owned by Joel and Joanna Hinsey, who are personal friends of mine and run two great doggy daycare locations in Fitchburg and Middleton. They have two daughters as well, and I hope to see them compete in the race on August 20! We are so happy to have them on board – and I can tell you that they know what they are doing when it comes to taking care of dogs. I have heard them numerous times talking about how they train their staff on which dogs play best with which other dogs and which groups of dogs should be avoided. You can tell they really get to know each dog’s personality and that is very reassuring to me as a dog owner. You can find out more about them at www.happyz.com.
We have also made some progress in the media department this week – our wonderful sponsor, Top Promotions, connected us with NBC 15. Stay tuned for more updates on how that goes – and you may see us on TV! We also have now connected with both the Wisconsin State Journal and the Isthmus newspapers. If anyone has connections in radio, we would love to talk with you to get some radio ads out about the race and how people can donate to local schools.
Besides media, we are relying heavily on word of mouth among the active triathlon community in Madison. I met with several ladies this week who are involved in many different activities in the greater Madison community and are eager to join our mission for a healthier generation in Dane County. It is very inspiring to me to see people who want to help us get kids healthier, and reassures me that this is a cause worth fighting for.
Last, but certainly not least, one of our current sponsors, Machinery Row Bicycles, has agreed to donate several kids bikes to us for the race. These bikes can be used for kids who may want to compete but do not have a bike they can use.
