We’re excited to show you some new ways to make your child’s experience a great one!

Creating Peak Moments

This off-season, our staff read The Power of Moments by Dan Heath, and the overall message was this: Creating powerful moments can have a lasting impact on someone’s life for years to come.  We were inspired to incorporate this philosophy into our events for the many stakeholders in our organization:

  • Participants
  • Family members
  • Volunteers
  • Donors and Sponsors
  • School staff

We believe in creating amazing, memorable experiences for our athletes so they will be able to draw on their success during life’s challenges.  We believe that to build relationships with all who associate with Tri 4 Schools, we need to make sure they know they are appreciated.

While we are a non-profit with a limited budget, we felt that there are many low-cost and high-impact additions we could make, and thanks to our incredible sponsors, we were able to add some new perks that wouldn’t be possible without increased financial support.

New 2018 Event Additions

Here are some of the things you can look for on Saturday:

  • Names on athlete race bibs. Anyone registered prior to May 4th will have the name of their choice listed on the front of their race bib.  We hope this makes for a keepsake and that will allow spectators and volunteers to cheer on your athlete throughout their race
  • A 2018 Finishers Banner Kids will sign the banner after each race, and as the year goes on, the banner will fill with names of the nearly 2,000 kids who crossed the finish line.

Names announced during the finisher chute. Imagine how awesome your child will feel as we call out their name (and the speed-induced finishing kick). Keep in mind that if there are a large pack of athletes at the same time, this might not be possible.  If anyone can do it though, it’s Fletcher Keyes from Today’s Q106!

  • Thanks to The MG&E Foundation for sponsoring this additional timing system
  • mg&e foundation
  • Finisher Zone for families.  This area will have branded banners and signs so families and athletes can take their own customized photos to commemorate their accomplishment
  • Cheer Zone – we now have posters and art supplies so families can make posters for their athlete the night before the race during our early packet pick-up, and even on race morning, too!  Who doesn’t get excited when they see a poster with their name on it?  Also, grab the noisemakers and pom-poms in your bag and cheer proud for every athlete you see!

  • Gratitude Station – No one gets to the start line alone, and we want to allow a space for people to create a note of thanks to someone who helped them get to race day.  We’re hoping families can also write a note to our volunteers to let them know that their effort is appreciated.  We’ll hand them out to our volunteers when they check out at the end of the day.
  • Finisher Pins. We want to recognize athletes who are committed to the sport by honoring their repeated accomplishments.  When an athlete has completed three of our triathlons, they’ll receive a red pin to attach to their finisher medal.  After ten triathlons, they’ll receive a gold pin.  Just another way to say “Wow, way to go!  You’re really working hard to make healthy choices!”

It takes a village to run a non-profit organization, and we couldn’t do it without each and every one of you.  Let’s make 2018 a season to remember!

With gratitude,
