If you live in Wisconsin then you know that mosquitoes here are no joke! Mosquitoes have a tendency of ruining outdoor fun and they also expose us to insect-borne diseases.  These creatures are the main reason I refuse to camp, and the primary reason I smell like Tea Tree oil all summer long.

So, you can imagine my delight when I got a call from Kate Reithel, the owner of the new Mosquito Joe of Madison.  Here’s how our first call sounded:

Me: “So, I’m already excited – tell me about Mosquito Joe.”

Kate: “Sure!  We provide mosquito control solutions for residential and commercial properties. Our technicians visit your property to deliver convenient and effective mosquito control treatments to rid your yard of mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas.”

Me, while silently doing a victory dance: “THANK GOODNESS YOU’RE HERE!  WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?”

Well, it was something along those lines.  Mosquito Joe of Madison has signed on as a sponsor of our triathlon series, and wanted to share how they can help our families enjoy summer.  Whether it’s for a great outdoor event, or just wanting to enjoy being in your yard, they’ve got a variety of different ways to help.

Popular Services

Check out their most popular services – I was particularly excited about the natural treatments (and hey, the garlic might help with my vampire problem, too!).

Barrier Sprays: We surround your home in a protective barrier against mosquitoes, keeping you and your family itch free for weeks!

All Natural Treatments: A natural, alternative solution to our long-lasting synthetic treatment.  In general, we offer two options. Our first option consists of garlic and only repels mosquitoes; it does not eliminate them. The second option consists of rosemary & peppermint oils and will eliminate mosquitoes on contact, but becomes a repellent once dry.

Both of these all-natural services need to be applied more often to be effective, typically every 14 days. Please know that these solutions will leave either a strong garlic or rosemary & peppermint odor in your yard for one to two hours after application.

Special Events: Whether you’re celebrating your child’s birthday or entertaining some friends, we will make sure that your party guests enjoy your yard in a bite-free environment.

Top Three Questions – Answered

How long does it take to do the barrier spray treatment and how long will it last?

A typical treatment will average 20-30 minutes. Larger yards will take longer to treat.  Each treatment lasts approximately 21 days, at which time our team will be scheduled to treat your yard again.

How long before I can go in the yard after you have sprayed?

After a barrier spray treatment, you need to ensure that the chemical has completely dried before going outside. We recommend 30-45 minutes, but this is dependent on temperature and humidity. Once the product has completely dried, you and your family may enjoy your deck, pool and yard once again.

Is it safe for my pets?

Yes, we want to help protect your fur babies! We add a layer of protection from diseases carried by mosquitoes and ticks.
