It was a beautiful day for a triathlon on August 22nd – thank you to everyone who joined us!

Well, our FIFTH annual triathlon in Middleton is in the books, and we couldn’t have done it without you!  I never would have imagined back in 2011 that we would be where we are today.  This year, the Middleton triathlon sold out for the third straight year, and we had a practically perfect weather day.  Even cooler is that this year, my daughter was able to participate, which is fitting, considering I was 28 weeks pregnant with her at our inaugural race in 2011.

We’re extremely grateful for the support of all our sponsors, especially our presenting sponsor, Middleton Sports & Fitness, as well as the incredible volunteers.  There were over 120 people who willingly gave their mornings just to help our 500+ athletes have a successful day, and this race would not be what it was without them.

Congratulations to our Fittest School for the 2015 Middleton triathlon, Kromrey Middle School!  They had 39 kids participate, the most of any school, and will receive a trophy for their school’s trophy case.

Our remaining top five fittest schools for this event are:

2. Northside Elementary, Middleton – 30 athletes

3. Sauk Trail Elementary, Middleton – 29 athletes

4. Elm Lawn Elementary, Middleton – 26 athletes

5. Glacier Creek Middle, Cross Plains – 24 athletes

If you’d like to see some of the pictures that our Transition Director captured during the race, you can check out the link here.  These photos will be available for download until September 15th.

We know there are ways in which we can improve the race, namely the bike in/out area and the loop/finish area for our long course bike.  There are ideas and options we are exploring for 2016, and we want to encourage parents of long course athletes who may have done the incorrect number of loops to contact us so we can adjust their times.  We were able to determine the average loop time (thanks to one determined athlete) so we can make their times more accurate if that is of interest.

Once again, thank you for trusting our team with the safety of your children, and we hope to see you at one of our remaining events for 2015 – our Fall Mud Run on 9/26 AND the Summit Credit Union Haunted Hustle Kids Run on 10/24!

With sincerest gratitude,

Katie Hensel
