We are so excited to introduce you to Theresa Oppermann, our new Expansion Coordinator. Thanks to a generous grant from the Steve Stricker AmFam Foundation, Theresa will be creating a way for new communities to start their own chapter of Tri 4 Schools, bringing our mission to more children and schools!

Let’s meet Theresa and learn more about why she is the perfect person to help us set the stage for growth.

An Outdoor Enthusiast

I grew up in Wisconsin and have always loved getting outside and being active. Growing up in the Baraboo area, I spent my time swimming at Devils Lake, canoeing at Mirror Lake, and exploring the amazing rock formations and waterfalls at Parfrey’s Glen and Pewit’s Nest. I now feel privileged to share in exploring the beauty and natural wonder of Southern Wisconsin with my husband and our energetic 3 year old daughter!

Health, wellness, and gratitude for each day are never too far from our minds. My husband (one of the most health-conscious people I have ever met!) very unexpectedly had emergency heart surgery due to a genetic condition at the end of last year. Grateful for his full recovery, our family now looks forward to putting this long Wisconsin winter behind us and getting out to discover and explore even more natural wonders this spring!

Dedicated to Health and Community

I have spent my career doing what I love – nurturing the physical and psychological growth of others. As a licensed counselor, I previously worked as clinic director for a child psychology clinic, laying the groundwork and heading up the expansion of what has become one of the largest companies serving children with autism in Wisconsin. Following this I became involved in nonprofit work: directing after school programs focused on healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and self-confidence for elementary school children. Most recently I became, a certified yoga and mindfulness instructor and I have been helping conduct wellness trainings for teachers in the Madison area. I have always desired to help my community, and want my work to have a lasting and beneficial ripple effect on society.

Why Tri 4 Schools?

I was drawn to Tri 4 Schools because the organization truly strives to create these lasting effects, bringing wellness to all children in our community. Not only does T4S directly introduce children to 3 physical activities that they can engage in throughout their entire lives, but even those not participating in Tri 4 Schools’ programs or events benefit from the work that Tri 4 Schools does. By giving funding directly to schools, T4S has maximum impact on wellness resources accessible to all children in our community. This not only positively impacts the children themselves, but their teachers, families, and the community at large. The ripple effects are great and long lasting.

Looking to the Future

By focusing on developing our children, and guiding them to be the best that they can be – we not only improve our current community, but we lay the groundwork for the world that they will build. As Expansion Coordinator for Tri 4 Schools, it is my hope and dream to bring the Tri 4 Schools movement to communities across the nation: benefiting children, families, and schools from coast to coast by enriching, improving, and changing lives through health and wellness.theresa tri 4 schools
