Let’s welcome our summer intern, Madison Blaydes, to the Tri 4 Schools team! Madison is a double major who is also a collegiate swimmer at UW.
Hello, my name is Madison Blaydes and I’m a new intern with Tri 4 Schools this summer. I’m a student-athlete on the swim team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This fall I begin my senior year, and I’ll graduate next spring with a double major in Psychology and Gender & Women’s Studies. I’ve been swimming since I was five years old and I couldn’t imagine my life without the sport and the active lifestyle it has given me. I feel very fortunate to have been able to continue my swimming career at the college level, and Madison has been the perfect place for my studies and swimming. My home isn’t too far away- just a state over in Illinois- but I consider myself to be a Badger through and through. In my time away from the books and pool I love to read, bake, and hang out with my friends and family. Summer is a great time to explore Madison, and I enjoy spending time at the terrace or visiting the zoo.
I was always involved in sports growing up, and I’m excited to share that opportunity and lifestyle with other young kids in my work at Tri 4 Schools. As an athlete on the Madison campus I’ve had the chance to be involved in a lot of volunteer events in the community through the program Badgers Give Back. These experiences within the community have inspired me to find new ways to get involved in Madison, like working for Tri 4 Schools. I’m looking forward to helping plan events as well as learning more about the curriculum and goals of this organization. Leading a healthy lifestyle is important not only for well-being, but also success in school, and I love that Tri 4 Schools is always developing new strategies to make their programs the best they can be for every kid they reach.
I’m certain I’ll learn a lot through my work this summer with Katie, and I’m really excited to get started! I think my internship with Tri 4 Schools is applicable to my future goals with graduate school and interests in sports psychology and working with young athletes. I’m looking forward to being a part of a great summer for Tri 4 Schools!
